If you are ever wondering about attending or organizing your high school reunion event, I urge you to get involved. Attend or even better yet, hop on the organizing committee.

The 1974 CNHS (David Force brags this class is the first and the best….) class reunion is happening September 13-14 weekend – this weekend!  We start out with a greet and re-meet at the Swine and Dine downtown on Friday evening.  Free appetizers and specialty BULL DOG cocktails and mocktails will be available.  Classmates are free to pub crawl or move to the CNHS football game to relive their memories of the football games and the band performing.

Saturday morning will be a CNHS tour as the search for an old locker area or favorite classroom commences.  (This will be led by former teachers with a love of our school’s history and a penchant for pointing out our memory areas).  The Nexus Park complex tour will follow led by David Force.  The classmates will walk into this former shopping mall which has turned into something spectacular for our city.

Saturday night will be the highlight of the festivities- located at Hotel Indigo.  Classmates will be greeted with tempting appetizers, another set of BULL DOG custom made drinks, a DJ, photo booth and blue and white decorations throughout the banquet room, bar, and outside patio.  We will hopefully recognize everyone from their yearbook picture on our special lanyards.

But what you won’t see at the reunion events are the countless hours and planning meetings behind this event.  Committee get- togethers were ongoing throughout the years… made up of a diverse group of kind and BULLDOG loyal people.  When LIbby Arthur and I first joined this committee many years ago, we were not totally acquainted with some of these planners.  That was fine, because you end up becoming friends and enjoying this planning time.  The 1974 class is so fortunate to have our fearless dear leader, Greg Willmore.  He is truly the unsung hero, behind the scenes, go to for help and ideas, and a computer genius.  He compiled a data list of classmates, while the committee sought and searched for the missing people to include. This is imperative, along with the creation of our Facebook page.  The committee toured venues, met with the drink and food people, ordered decorations, created a pub crawl, designed decorative attire for display, and continually reached out to classmates.

One more personal observation… I know lots of people might remember high school and think that maybe it was not the best years.  Or they are in the midst of struggles at this time and feel this is not a good time for them to attend.  I get that, but I would hope you would reconsider becoming involved in planning your own high school reunion and making the effort to attend.  I see our committee as a welcoming one to all – especially since we all have had our shares of life struggles, extreme sadness, and health issues.  Coming together to celebrate our BULL DOG history and appreciating each other is the goal for the 50th CNHS Class of ’74 high school reunion.

As ever… GO BULLDOGS!
